The area in
which Myrtilos is situated is known as Goura,
Korinthias not far from the famous areas of Trikala and
Kalavrita. It is just a couple of hours from Athens and the
same from the port of Patra by road although the area could not
be more different to the hustle and bustle of the big city. Goura
is mountainous, covered in dense forest and in spring an abundance of
colours with flowers blooming everywhere are evident. The technical lake
at Feneo has blended in with countryside perfectly and is well
worth a visit.
The
tranquility and serenity of the area is unique, a perfect place at any
time of the year for holidays whether during the winter months when it
is covered in snow or during the summer with its cooler climate a
welcome respite form the heat of other areas.
Archaelogogical sites of the Peloponnese are within easy reach of
Goura for those interested in the history of Greece with
Nemea being particularly close by also offering its famous "Wine
Roads" and Korinth with its canal and archaeological sites. |
